This seam bream, tai in Japanese, rolls on wheels! Tai is often eaten on special occasions in Japan and has a strong association with celebrations and festivities. Red is a lucky color and is thought to ward off misfortune. This specific rendition of Tai Kuruma is one of many others that Sawafuji-san has taken from classic drawings of Edo period toys.
