Cinnabar glazes contain copper, which changes color depending on the conditions in the kiln during firing. The red color is rare, and can only be achieved by firing in the first chamber of a climbing kiln. In this dish, band-like patterns which show where the glaze overlaps are visible, as are gradations from changes in the density of glaze. Enjoy the subtle variations in color and texture as you use this dish.
